Backup Policy

Automatic Backups

WaseerHost’s backup service runs daily. We keep up to 3 backups of your cPanel, which can be restored from the cPanel interface.

NOTE: WaseerHost provides backups as a courtesy and the backups are not guaranteed. Customers are responsible for their own backups and web content and should make their own backups for extra protection. We encourage each customer to generate and download a backup of their website. Backups can be generated and downloaded from the cPanel at any time using the cPanel Backup feature.

Shared Hosting and Reseller Hosting Plans

WaseerHost creates daily backups of your accounts and keeps up to 7 backups. Our aim is to have the 7 most recent days of backup available for you to restore but due to various reasons, we do not guarantee that each single day, your website will be backed up. However, at least 7 backups of your account will be available for you to restore at any time. To view your backups and restore them, please use this guide.

VPS Hosting Plans

WaseerHost does not create any backups for VPS hosting plans.

If you’d like to have backup for your VPS, please refer to the Premium Backup Solution section of this article.

Dedicated Servers

WaseerHost does not create any backups for dedicated servers. By default, our dedicated servers are set up with RAID1 which mirrors data on two drives – but this is not a backup solution.

For dedicated servers, we recommend our premium backup solution. Please refer to the Premium Backup Solution section of this article for more details.

Manual Backups

It is possible to generate manual backups from the cPanel for Shared Hosting and Reseller Hosting plans. Please check this guide on how to generate manual backups in cPanel.

For VPS Hosting and Dedicated servers, manual backups are not available. If however, you use web hosting panels like cPanel, CWP or Plesk, you can use their backup features to perform manual backups. Check respective manuals for how to configure these.

Premium Backup Solution

WaseerHost offers a premium backup solution that is more granular and offers more control in backup and restore operations. This backup solution allows you to backup/restore any sort of files and databases on both Linux and Windows servers. You will also be able to schedule backups on a monthly, weekly, daily and/or even hourly basis.

The backup solution can be integrated for VPS and Dedicated servers. It cannot be used with Shared Hosting and Reseller hosting plans.

To have this configured for you, please get in touch with our sales team for further information on pricing and configuration.

When your account cannot be backed up.

If your disk space or inode limit is reached, you will not be able to generate manual backups using the cpanel backup feature. As such, you will not be able to download a local copy of your account as backups cannot be generated.

Also, on the shared hosting and reseller hosting platforms, if a cPanel account is greater than 30gb in size, it will not be considered in our daily backups. You will need to regularly download your own backup from the cPanel

Backups FAQ

1. How do I restore my own backup?

If you’d like to restore your website to a previous state, this guide will help you perform a restoration of your account.

If you have a full account backup, you cannot restore it from the cPanel. You will need to contact us via Ticket or Email and request a restoration. If your backup is within cPanel already, you will just state to us this and we’ll access and restore it for you. If your backup is on your computer, you will first need to upload it to cPanel so we can access the backup file and restore for you.

2. Is my account backed up if it’s suspended?

No. Once your account is suspended, it will zipped and removed from the servers within 30 days. The backup available for your account will be the last backup that was made just before suspension. After your account is zipped, the backup is deleted within 3 days.

3. Can I schedule my own backups in cPanel

No. We do not provide scripts that can allow scheduling of backups at cPanel level. However, it is possible to write scripts in php, bash or even perl to create dumps of your database and run them using cron jobs. This at least keeps very granular backups of your databases if they are critical and dynamic.
